Rent Jungle’s growth path
Real estate search site RentJungle.com was founded in 2009, is based out of Pittsburgh, and runs on very lean funding. The company claims they are “the only true search engine in the apartment and rental housing industry” and that their “web-crawling technology gathers up nearly every property listed in the U.S. from over 7,000 rental sites.”
Rent Jungle recently added a Walk Score function to all of their listings to show the walkability of listings on the site, a request of renters that is on the rise due in part to raised environmental awareness combined with people going car-less in the recession.
Rent Jungle also recently added a “moving center” as a resource for apartment hunters with articles ranging from tips on avoiding shady landlords to what renters should throw away when moving.
Josef D. Bookert, Rent Jungle’s Director of Public Relations and Business Development said, “In addition, we’ve grown substantially in size. Not just our traffic, but we’ve also grown from 2 people in last October to 8 full time employees, and 5 interns! Our traffic followed from just 30k unique users a month, to over 400k!”
As the company grows in size, traffic and features, the real estate community should take note of site changes, especially property managers and agents shifting toward rentals.
