App makes being social easier
Newly launched mobile app, Highlight aims to help users learn more about people that are physically around them and help them to connect. The app runs in the background on an iPhone and finds users’ Facebook friends nearby that are also Highlight users.
When users are physically near each other, their profile will show up on their smartphones along with their name, photos, mutual Facebook friends and other optional information. The app is so new that Apple has not offered a rating as it only has 12 reviews as of publication of this story.
The app notes that remembering people from past events is ameliorated with their service, helping users to remember forgotten names.
The company says, “As you go about your day, Highlight runs quietly in the background, surfacing information about the people around you. If your friends are nearby, it will notify you. If someone interesting crosses your path, it will tell you more about them. Highlight gives you a sixth sense about the world around you, showing you hidden connections and making your day more fun.”
Because the app is optional as are notifications, this will likely be a hit at SXSWi this year, and at other conferences where people want to connect with known contacts that are physically nearby.
