Social media hurdles
When any large organization makes a decision to implement a social media program, there are inherent challenges, particularly around the understanding of the culture of social media. Senior web manager, Donna Seago discusses the hurdles that the University of Texas Athletics department underwent, particularly at inception of their social media program.
One of the struggles the Athletic department went through is common in higher education and enterprise when adopting a new program – control of user interaction. Social media managers cringe when anyone tells them comments will be closed or moderated in their social media program, as it violates the premise of a legitimate program or campaign. Seago notes in the video how the University overcame these obstacles with their newly budding program.
