Green homes have become ultra sexy
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is a globally recognized certification for green building that can be granted to any building that has received third party verification that it adheres to environmentally friendly building in an effort to improve energy and resource (water) consumption, carbon dioxide emissions, indoor environmental quality improvement, fewer toxic building materials and an overall sensitivity to the impact of resources used in building.
Burns and Beyerl Architects in Chicago designed a LEED Silver house, which is a step above LEED certified. The trend we are seeing in more recent years is that green homes are less modern and blend in with normal homes in given neighborhoods. They are no longer sterile concrete boxes once imagined as the standard in green building, no, they are amazingly beautiful works of architectural art.
