Prismatic isn’t your grandma’s news reader
News reader apps are nothing new, but there are a few that actually help sort through your feeds and enhance your viewing experiences. Prismatic is one of these apps, but this social news reader gives you a new way to follow the news that you care about, in one place. Prismatic offers you personalized news and information based on your interests. It is like a merging of a news aggregator, social feed, and news reader all in one app.
Prismatic’s technology is more topic-based than other news readers; it looks at what you have shared on social networks and analyzes your interests. Then they take it a step further and recommend topics and publications for you to follow; helping you find new content that you might have otherwise missed.
Bradford Cross, CEO of Prismatic states, “We’ve built a product that is not just about filtering your social feed; it’s about taking your social information as a seed for creating a totally new product category of media discovery.”
Customizable and interactive tool
To try Prismatic, you will need the app available for the web, iOS, and Android. You will also need to connect your social media account(s) to get the most from the Prismatic experience. You can connect with Facebook, Twitter, and Google. Then, you will need to enable the app to access your location. Prismatic will then begin to make suggestions based on your area. Once you are set up, you will begin to see stories, news, and social feeds.
The experience is entirely interactive and customizable. If Prismatic shows you something you do not like, just tap “don’t like” and it will start to learn your interests. You can also mark the article “interesting” and share it with friends. It is sort of like Facebook’s “share” feature in this way.
Prismatic was very fast to load content. In the limited amount of time I had to try it, it did a pretty good job of finding news articles that I enjoyed reading and would want to share with friends. It is definitely worth a look. Try it out and see what you think.
