Texas and California make up half of America’s top ten can-do cities

Hotspots despite economic downturn

With the American economy obliterated by a recession and threatened by a second recession, various hotspots have remained strong during the downturn. Newsweek analyzed the 200 largest cities in America, scoring each city based on sustainability, livability, business development, transportation, and infrastructure. Not only were these categories looked at for how they are currently performing, but also based on their path of progression.

What is most notable is that Texas accounts for 30% of the list and California accounts for 20%, which has been common in recent years with various lists awarded to cities that perform well in a variety of categories. Although housing affordability and living costs vary widely with the list before, livability and vibrant business scenes help these ten cities rise to the top despite a struggling economy.
