Timewiki acquired by OverBlog to add timelines to platform

One timeline for RSS, Facebook and Twitter

Last fall, we introduced you to timewiki which presents Twitter, Facebook and RSS (blog) entries chronologically with photos appearing naturally within the timeline which scrolls up and down similar to Facebook’s new Timeline feature.

Timewiki says, “Startups, big companies and people have [a] life. Sometimes it’s not enough to just work hard, but also present your work in a meaningful way. A timeline of consistent effort towards a certain goal can project perseverence, focus and determination. One can make better decisions if they can see a global perspective and reflect on it. With timekiwi you can create a beautiful timeline of your twitter, blogs & photos.”

Now, the company is “timewiki by overblog,” as they have been acquired by French blogging platform, OverBlog.com which will integrate timewiki into their offering by this summer.

Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed, but timewiki says they have over 5,000 users since their October launch, but OverBlog said in a statement that they have purchased the company to stop fragmentation of social networks and to bring them all together, with reports noting that the founders will not be joining the OverBlog team, rather their technology will.

What is most fascinating about the acquisition and has the tech analysts buzzing is that it is common for American companies to purchase tech startups, but it is less common for American companies to sell their company overseas. Because of this tradition, it is not surprising that the founders will remain in Silicon Valley and likely move on to their next startup.
