Top resolutions of 2012
The top new years resolutions include predictable goals like quitting drinking and smoking, recycling more, improving your career, losing weight and doing more good deeds. The first month of the year is typically introspective and hopeful with people resolving to make this year better than the last, starting with self improvement.
But what are the chances of actually reaching any of these goals, especially the more difficult goals like weight loss or kicking an addiction? A recent study shows that the less happy you are, the more likely you are to make resolutions for the new year, with 45 percent of Americans setting goals, reflective of our current economic and political climate. It is arguable, however, that resolutions are more of a tradition than a necessary step for many people, so perhaps being content is not related to goal setting or the lack thereof.
Few people are likely to accomplish all new years goals, but according to the infographic below, the younger you are, the more likely you are to achieve your goals. Perhaps young people have had less time to develop bad habits that need resolving, or maybe the goals are smaller and more attainable? Either that or perhaps youth means ambition?
