Twitter gives Realtors good reason to tweet listing photos

Twitter finally does something cool

Twitter has not impressed us much in any way since launch, despite sitting on $42.5 million in acquired companies and funding of $760 million, but it has become a staple in any marketer’s toolbox, there is no doubt.

For real estate professionals, Twitter has finally given a decent reason for time invested by rolling out image galleries for users that will be featured on their Twitter profile. Users that post images to Twitter either through the native uploader or third party apps like TwitPic or Instagram which will be available to all users this coming Monday and is currently available on select accounts.

The image galleries will automatically show the last 100 images uploaded and the images will pull from as far back as the beginning of 2010, so there is no need to go on a photo shooting spree. The image gallery appears on all users’ sidebars (as seen above) and when an image is clicked, a full page image gallery appears (as seen below):

There is no word yet as to whether multi-media files like video will be featured in the image gallery in the future and so far we have noticed difficulty in viewing images in the gallery from TwitPic.

How this feature benefits Realtors

What is especially useful to Realtors is that now, when in the field and shooting photos of a pocket listing or a neighborhood or an open house, tweeting the image does more than send a 140 character note into the ether, rather, there is a legitimate destination that lasts a bit longer. Now when consumers look at your profile, they see useful biographical information and proof that you leave your basement from time to time to get fresh air and do real Realtor work.

Twitter is attempting to grow up and while this is not exactly innovative (Facebook has been doing this since its inception), it is useful for those already using the service that wish to offer a higher value proposition to consumers and is especially rewarding to those who are already camera happy with their business regarding Twitter.
