Tyia is a wearable technology that is actually fashionable

Tyia: a wearable that fashionably helps you keep in touch

In this day and age, it is not only a commonality to have your cell phone with you 24/7, but it has also become a necessity. It is always important to be just a phone call or text message away if there is an emergency.

However it can sometimes be a nuisance to always have your phone with you and it can even be rude in some situations. Still, it is difficult to part from out of fear of missing something important.

But we have seen time and time again that, if there is an issue such as this, there is someone out there actively working on a solution. Meet Tyia.

Developed by Viawear, Tyia is an in-beta concept that allows phone call notifications to be alerted through, of all things, jewelry. The pieces of jewelry have sensors linked to your cell phone to notify you of a phone call or a text if you are away from your phone.

How Tyia came to be

The idea came about when one day, a therapist named Tyia missed an abundance of calls after putting her phone in her purse. Tyia missed these calls from her nanny regarding the fact that her young son had broken his arm. Tyia’s husband, Ben Isaacson, then decided to utilize this situation into a technology to combat this issue in the future.

Isaacson teamed up with Walter Chefitz, an award-winning jewelry designer, to develop a line of bracelets that would alert of phone calls. The overall idea being to have the freedom to put your phone away and enjoy life’s little moments.

Tyia works beautifully

The bracelet notifies it’s wearer by gentle vibrations and a gem that changes colors when a call is coming in. The bracelet synchronizes with an app that links phone calls to the jewelry.

The app allows you to customize what calls are important enough to be alerted via Tyia. You can also customize the intensity of vibration or color of the alert in order to determine the importance of the phone call.

Sleek and innovative

Tyia also goes a step further in that it allows you to sync notifications from other apps on your phone; such as calendar alerts or breaking news. It can also link to the health app on the iPhone to keep track of your steps throughout the day.

The bracelets are neutral in their look and designed for everyday wear. The collection includes genuine leather bands and Rhodium or 18K Gold plating. Every Tyia displays a semi-precious quartz or Blue Topaz, which is the motherboard of phone call alerts.

Tyia is sleek and innovative while allowing convenience to blend with fashion.
