Typeform: an easier, sexier way to create forms

Typeform can be customized (hello, branding!)

Typeform has created a way to make creating online forms even easier. You do not need any design or coding experience, just like Google forms and Wufoo. However, with Typeform you get a bit more. First, let us look at what Typeform can do.

For starters, you can create a customized welcome and thank you screens that are perfect for branding. Your logo will be the first and last thing the survey taker will see. There is also the ability to add a video to your opening screen and then use the following survey screen to ask questions about it. Then the closing screen could direct people to your website. The marketing possibilities with this are endless.

Getting started with Typeform

To get started, you can sign up for the free beta. Afterwards, simply name your new form and the “build” section will show up. From there just start dragging and dropping form sections in the order you want. They do offer some pre-designed options, but you also have the freedom to select your own backgrounds, fonts, and images, if you choose. This can further assist you in pushing your brand; think matching the survey to your site theme.

The best part about Typeform: all of your survey questions appear on (technically) one page. The user will only see the current question; all others will be faded out. So you only have to work with three pages: the “welcome” screen, the form, and the “thank you.” Sound easy? It is and quite fun too.

Easier for you, easier for customers

Most of the options work just the same as other form tools, you can set fields so users can enter text, select multiple choices, or checkboxes. But the most useful part of this is that it works across all devices. From tablets, to cell phones and computers, it is really easy to fill out the form. And for touch-screen enabled devices, surveys are displayed perfectly. It is easy to see where you need to touch to start typing an answer. Thereby increasing the likelihood your user will stay with the form and actually enjoy the experience. In fact, you can use the “enter” key instead of the mouse to begin the survey, making it ultra-easy to access.

The ultra-easy theme continues when you are ready to retrieve the data you have collected, as well. You will be able to see how the survey was taken, computer/laptop, tablet, smartphones, or other, as well as, how long it took them to complete the survey. You can view all the responses to your forms in an Excel-like format within the browser, or you can download a CSV file of all of your responses and use with the program of your choice.

If you use forms frequently, this is definitely worth a look and it completely free during beta-testing. If you want to take a look without signing up, check out the Typeform demo.
