#Vine founders are already making their next move

As Vine dies down, let the Hype begin

As you’ve probably heard by now, Vine is going by the wayside. Far from crying over a six-second loop of spilled milk, however, Vine’s founders are moving on to a bigger — though time will tell whether or not it fulfills the “better” criterion — project: Hype.

Get Hyped

Hype is a live video-sharing app dedicated to doing all the things you’d expect from a live video-sharing app. Some of its selling points include its interactive nature, an ability to draw and add music to live videos, and the fact that it isn’t Facebook Live or Twitter’s Periscope.

Hype has a few bells and whistles up its proverbial sleeves, too. Mixing and matching your live video stream with previously-created content and various forms of media will definitely appeal to certain niches. Freelance journalists and avid bloggers come to mind, and the folks behind Vine have certainly demonstrated they can create a simple, utilitarian app for all to enjoy.

Look alive

For the founders of Vine, the primary concern is marketing to an already crowded market. There are only so many ways one can reasonably upload a live stream, and without a social network to link to, Hype might not have enough going for it to stay afloat.

The interactive nature and the friendly, welcoming vibe Hype seems to offer might create its own niche in a still-developing medium, and its generally goofy aesthetic might appeal to a completely different demographic than Facebook’s Live or Periscope’s respective platforms.

Whatever the case may be, the founders of Vine at least deserve your attention for the time being.

Hype is currently in beta form, but expect to see it coming your way sometime soon.
