I first met Dru when she attended my Real Estate Blogging 101 Seminar back in August 2007. Apparently she wasn’t that excited about blogging and Calie Waterhouse had to encourage her to attend. Bright and articulate she immediately understood the value blogging could bring to her business. Her questions that afternoon were amazing and added greatly to my presentation. She even won the door prize which was a free one week blogging consultation with none other than myself. Not a great dollar value but I figured if I could help an agent along it would be worth it!
A few weeks later she started her blog “At Home in Scottsdale” and the rest as they say is history. From recently being featured on Channel Five (KPHO Phoenix) News to gracing the front cover of a Scottsdale area newspaper, she has become a regular in the local media circuit. In fact AZ Central, the web portal run by NBC 12 and the Arizona Republic, calls Dru an “Internet Realtor”. And to think, it all started with her blogging.
I’m certainly not trying to take credit for her success, but she herself has privately mentioned that business has not been the same since she started blogging. I know everyone was abuzz earlier this week after Ben Martin suggested that measuring return on investment in social media marketing is fuzzy math, but Dru’s success demonstrates that the right mix of on-line and off-line marketing can bring you great success. Honestly,I don’t know how many more transactions she’s closing as an “Internet Realtor”, but I know she’s writing contracts at 5AM. At least that’s what one of her Facebook/Twitter updates said a few weeks ago.
Now I ask you? What are you waiting for? Fire up the laptop and start blogging! Don’t know how? Well, if you’re in the Phoenix area, you’re in luck. I’ll be putting on another free Blogging 101 Seminar in April. This time I may ask Dru to be on a panel to discuss her success. If she has time of course.
