Microsoft announced last week that it will delete internet protocol (IP) addresses linked with search queries after six months in an effort to comply with European privacy laws. Currently Bing holds this data for 18 months. According to Microsoft, the new policy will be rolled out over the next 12 to 18 months.

No word yet from Google or Yahoo as to whether they will follow suit.

Does Bing’s move impact how you will surf the web in the future?
