Austin Digital Jobs (ADJ) redefines how talent and careers connect

The upcoming Austin Digital Jobs mixer brings together some of Austin’s top talent and most desirable employers for an Austin-style casual night designed to make meaningful connections happen offline.

Austin Digital Jobs (ADJ) is a growing private Facebook Group with roughly 12,000 members. It is operated by Lani Rosales and has for the past two years gone about the task of making job searching more social, both online and offline.

Rosales, Chief Operating Officer of The American Genius has brought together powerhouses such as IBM, Under Armour, Vitamin T Talent, Bazaarvoice, Nelson Staffing, Simplex, Indeed, Hired, Panic Button Games, Arkane Studios, and more to the offline mixer to meet ADJ members. With 12,000 members and influential brands mixed together in one venue in a casual environment, hiring managers and Austin talent have the opportunity to meet and build a rapport on a more peer to peer level. In a way that is genuine and relaxed, candidates get to meet in person the companies they might want to work for (and as a bonus have a contact within the company that is a real human), and vice versa.

Rosales says it’s time to change the concept of sending resumes into space, and asserts that keeping not only big tech, but big tech talent in Austin is critical. Rosales’ bolder goal is to lure top talent and new business to Austin using The American Genius’ national and global reach of millions of readers and subscribers. The American Genius is an annual sponsor of the event, but plays a very behind the scenes role in the mixer, as well as in the group, but will in the near future begin promoting hiring partners along with their specific needs.

– Lucas Mitchell, Director of Creative and Marketing Services at Luna Data Solutions

Rosales has also made room for entry level opportunities, in the same fashion within the same event. There’s opportunity for everyone at ADJ. Career seekers can request permission to join the private Facebook group. Rosales notes that the “Save the Date” announcement for the next event will go out in the coming days, and the skill sets needed will be announced leading up to the event. Immediate positions are offered daily to members within the ADJ group.

With the large numbers of attendees and the quality of the limited numbers of recruiters, the diversity of the ADJ Mixers is palpable.

I think Austin Digital Jobs is genius. Why send a paper resume into the void when you can meet an employer face to face or find a great job contact online? It was definitely a huge help with my job search.

Austin Digital Jobs offers something hard to find: real value delivered to the community. It's a brilliant concept, and Austin is better for it. It's always inspiring to read the consistent stream of people thanking ADJ for their new job. Kudos!

So let me get this straight; Marti, you are now covering what your bosses are doing ? Can I get this gig? I mean, I've been stalking Benn and Lani way longer than you have. Side question: How do editorial meetings go down for this beat?
Lani: "Marti, I think people want to more about all the cool things the Rosales family is doing."
You "Sure thing, Mrs. Rosales! Here's a punchy story that in no way looks like a conflict of interest."
Lani "Can you make the conflict of interest a little more obvious?"
You "No problem, Mrs. R. I'll get right on it."
