Freelancers: This site creates all of your client docs for you

Running your business like a badass

Head’s up, freelance designers! We know that one of your biggest struggles is that, although you’ve invested most of your time, money, education, and skill-building into becoming the best designer you can be, that doesn’t necessarily mean that you know how to run a business.

One of the biggest challenges of freelancing is having creative talents, but then having to use a lot of time, energy, and money learning business and marketing skills.

Focus on what you do, not the minutiae

Project Prescription wants to help. They’ve created a “set of digital documents” designed to streamline the entire process of working with clients, from start to finish.

The site was created by and for designers, and relies on “hard data from the trenches” to create documents and templates so that you can bypass the trial and error process of creating your own. The result is that you’ll save time and money by focusing your energy on what’s really important to you – creating great design.

Project Prescription was so named because the designers behind the project “spent years…listening to thousands of designers struggle with clients,” including the things that were “making clients sick.” They hoped to develop a cure for confusing designer-client relations.

What do they offer?

The documents are editable InDesign files, including instructions on how to customize the files with your brand’s logo and aesthetic.

They appear to offer a pretty wide range of documents, including those designed to help you market yourself and build your customer base (such as a media kit and a potential leads spreadsheet), documents for facilitating negotiations with potential clients (such as a client questionnaire, an estimate, and a project proposal), and documents for helping the work itself go smoothly (such as an invoice, a client evaluation, and a follow up schedule for staying in touch).

Stay focused on providing the best design possible – and let Project Prescription take care of some of the pesky business paperwork.
