Assuaging consumers’ fears

As the browser wars heat up and Google Chrome catches up to their competitors, users are left to wonder not only which browser to choose based on speed, features and aesthetics, but based on how secure each browser is and which one is the most or least vulnerable to threats.

Accuvant Labs was commissioned by Google to analyze the security features of the three most commonly used browsers – Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, Mozilla’s Firefox browser and Google Chrome. The result was that Google Chrome was found to be the most secure, with Microsoft and Mozilla immediately releasing statements against the findings, saying they disagree with the methodology.

Many consumers are shifting to the Google Chrome and away from Internet Explorer, with most seeing this as a graduation or upgrade of sorts. We reported this spring that a separate study found Internet Explorer to be a more outdated browser and Google Chrome having the best user experience.

The full report is below discussing the methodology, what vulnerabilities each browser has and what this means for the end user, but overall, they crowned Google Chrome as the most secure browser of the three which marks one more tic in the Google Chrome column.
