Going Grassroots
Ever wonder what in the world the National Association of Realtors is up to in Washington? Are you just guessing that decisions are made without talking to Realtors, or making their intentions and assertions known? Well, all you have to do is go to realtoractioncenter.com to learn all of the grassroots efforts going on on behalf of Realtors as well as consumers.
Although I wish it was done in blog format that allowed polling and comments, I do give them credit for absolute transparency where issues are concerned. All grassroots efforts are listed for the world to see, logged in or not. The site is jam packed with short descriptions, bill titles, and downloadable PDFs of the agenda, item by item.
The site is currently maintained by Rick Miller (at 202-383-1107), and Claire McDonough (at 202-383-1080), both of which are completely open and interested in your opinions as well as your support for agenda items. In fact, I lobbied Claire a few weeks ago for tax credits in the jumbo loan markets to buy down rates, and she actually listened (I’m now a fan).
So if you really want to know what NAR DC is up to, make realtoractioncenter.com a stop for weekly reading and get involved.
AgentGenius hopes to be working more closely with DC in the very near future, and some evidence of that is one of our star tech writers Melanie Wyne who is NAR’s Senior Technology Policy Representative bringing us the latest on the privacy debate and many other critical issues yet to impact the real estate industry.
