Apartment hunting that doesn’t suck – lifestyle search on RentSavvy

Rent search that’s all about lifestyle

Dallas based RentSavvy.com is “the very first personalization engine that takes the hassle out of renting by matching your interests and budget to help you find the perfect place to live. It’s apartment hunting that doesn’t suck,” according to their site, and by searching Craigslist and presenting results on the site based on lifestyle preferences, the company’s focus is on neighborhood first, listing second. This isn’t the first Craigslist-centric real estate search site to hit the market, making it all the more prevalent for real estate professionals to engage Craigslist.

RentSavvy may be on to something, as consumers looking to move neighborhoods typically want to know first if the neighborhood is safe for children or maybe it’s walkable and has a great nightlife. The ends of the spectrum are so different that a consumer landing in a rental in the wrong neighborhood can cause misery, so this company goes further than finding rentals based on price and size; they’ve added census data and social tools to discover listings that match a user’s preferences. Once the neighborhood is discovered, then users can drill down into listings.

RentSavvy’s “deal of the day” feature sends out top deals in the user’s city and gives apartment managers a tracking mechanism which is a win-win from our point of view.

Although the new site is experiencing some hiccups right now, many have high hopes that the national site that combs Craigslist and also features five million multi-family units will help consumers land in the right part of town for them. The company is young and vibrant and recently graduated from the Texas Wildcatters tech incubator.

Bonus: their use of “shan’t” cracked us up as we use that around the office jovially, and their copy is often hip and slightly silly at times.
