Visionaries’ “aha” moments
Looking to kickstart your brand or become the next great inventor? Begin by looking at the problems surrounding you, and solve a problem, just as so many others have, turning simple solutions into billion dollar ideas.
Take for example, Ingvar Kampard who at age 22 became frustrated that he couldn’t fit a table he had just purchased into his car. He took the legs off, and IKEA was born. A whopping 66 years later, his net worth is $4.1 billion. BILLION. Because he got pissed off at a table.
Kampard isn’t the only story worth being inspired by, according to Funders and Founders who have put together a nifty graphic briefly showing several entrepreneurs’ “aha” moments

Take a look at the infographic below generated by San Francisco-based startup organization Funders and Founders for more stories of how many of the most successful entrepreneurs got started by looking at their own problems and finding a solution.

“What brings the Aha moment?” Funders and Founders asks. “Inconvenience. GoPro founder who struggled to take a picture of himself while surfing. Limited resources. Ikea founder could not fit a table in his small car, so he thought to take off the legs. Pain and tragedy. Samuel Morse received a letter about his wife’s illness after she was already buried. Letters took a long time back then. He raced to see her, but it was too late. Grief-stricken, he decided to forever change how people talk to each other and invented the telegraph.”
Everyone’s “aha” moment strikes at a different time – some in their 20s, others in their 60s, and it is never too late to innovate. What are you pondering that could change lives for the better? Go solve a problem, already!
