The very clever Smartphone Projector

Remember that pinhole camera you made as a kid from a Pringle’s can, or that guitar you built with a box and rubber bands? If you feel as sentimental about those vintage builds as we do, you’ll love the Smartphone Projector by Luckies of London.

The cardboard Smartphone Projector lets you slide in nearly any smartphone and project on any nearby surface, with no dock, no wires, no batteries, just old fashioned cardboard and a glass magnifying lens.

The Projector kit expands your phone’s screen for video and photo, just turn up your phone’s brightness and dim the lights, and manually focus with the sliding-box design, just like the good ol’ days.

Show a client some product shots or distract your kids for a bit with a video short so they can’t fight over who gets to hold the phone.

The box has one slot to allow you to charge your phone while projecting, and another to connect to speakers, cleverly marrying digital and analog.

The silicone grip pad at the back of the projector holds on to nearly any device. Device compatibility includes the iPhone 5, iPhone 6 (but not iPhone 6 plus) and most Android phones (but not Galaxy 4 & 5, nor the Note devices).

Reviewed by one of our favorite shopping sites, The Grommet, watching a video demo (found here) might help you soak up the sentimentality of the product.
