Thoughtful move in gift ideas Realtors can impress clients with

Share

Koozies and calendars are so passé

A common part of the real estate business is a thank you to clients that are buying or selling property, especially for clients buying a new home. Koozies and calendars are passé, although they’ll still be used commonly by Realtors.

We believe moving into a home is an exciting and unique experience and Realtors can make a more lasting impression with clients with their move-in gifts.

Thoughtful ideas

Our favorite ideas are thoughtful. Pictured above is a frame of keys, listing where someone has lived. Imagine putting together a frame for them with a generic key for their last residence and a copy of their new key to their new house with two blank pins for future homes. Keeping it classic and simple (read: don’t put your name, logo or Glamour shot anywhere on the gift) make for a thoughtful gift they can alter in the future, remembering you as they do.

When my family bought a new home, they would have a stock card paper cutout made of their last home and would engrave a plate with their old address on it, making for an incredible gallery of shadow boxes in their room. Any Realtor could have a local artist recreate this idea but instead of past homes, use a picture of their new home.

If this is too complicated, find an artist on Etsy.com, send them a picture of the home your buyers are purchasing, and have a medium framed portrait created to give them at move in:

Classy twist on tradition

Realtors have given “we’re moving” cards as move in gifts for years, but they often have their logo on it or some cheesy picture. We encourage an update to the tradition by using high quality custom prints online. We like TinyPrints.com and Crane.

TinyPrints.com has a wide variety of modern prints, and giving your clients a box of moving announcements with a book of stamps is not only thoughtful, but if the card matches the style of their new home (contemporary, traditional, rural, etc.), clients will be impressed.

If you want to give the gift of luxury, we have written in the past of our affinity for Crane & Co. and their moving announcements are elegant and gorgeous and the quality of paper is always amazing and impressive to anyone who values the feeling of cardstock.

The takeaway

Moving gifts don’t have to be cliché or passé, because a thoughtful gift goes so much further. Any Realtor who practices thoughtful gift giving knows that when a framed picture of a homeowner’s home is passed by every day, the gracious touch of their agent is imprinted in that person’s mind. Loyalty is earned more by thoughtfulness than with a plastic koozie and classiness is rare in modern society, so it stands out. For your next closing, try a thoughtful move in gift and watch the look on that homeowner’s face. Trust us.
