Colors have energy and the colors you choose to surround yourself with daily have an impact on you.  Think about the colors in your environment.  Have you always chosen essentially the same type of colors?  Are all the walls white in your home?  Is every room a different color?  Do the colors flow smoothly from one room to the next or do the spaces feel chopped up and random?  Are the colors very bright and fiery or calm and soothing?  The answers to these questions are likely to reflect how you feel while you are in the home or office space.

If you are someone who loves bright, hot colors and have always had a home with brightly painted walls, richly colored accent items and perhaps every room a different color, that might be perfect for you.  But if you find yourself saying that you lack focus, cannot concentrate, feel scattered and have difficulty sleeping you may ask yourself if what you have always had is really working for you?  Making a change in the colors in your environment now might just be the change you need to get you on track with the way you want to feel inside.

If you are looking for serenity, focus and a peaceful mindset, it is much easier when your exterior environment matches your interior focus.  Simple, soothing colors that flow easily from one room to another looks and feels harmonious.  Using colors that are found in nature are most supportive.  This does not mean you need to live in a white washed home, but subtle colors as a main backdrop will go a very long way to enhancing those peaceful thoughts and feelings that so many long for in today’s hectic world.

If, on the other hand, you have always lived in an all white home, with metal and chrome furnishings and are feeling like perhaps things are a bit too controlled for you, perhaps you want to soften things up and a few earth elements, maybe a nice fountain with rocks at the bottom or a beautiful picture of some mountains. You can fire things up with some red accents.  Ask yourself how you feel, what would make you feel better and add that to your space.

Choose furnishings that are comfortable, supportive and free of harmful materials.  Keep your spaces clear of unnecessary items and place your furniture in their most supportive positions.  Add those touches of hot accent colors that you love in small pieces like throw pillows, vases and flowers.  Once you create serenity in your physical space, you will find it much easier to find peace, focus and serenity inside your mental and emotional spaces too.
