The rise of Chrome

In line with the history of browsers dating back to 1994 when Netscape was the browser, Google Chrome continues to rise in popularity, now surpassing Firefox as the second most used web browser in the world, according to StatCounter.

Although American browser use is slightly different, Firefox declined in use this year while Chrome use rose, noting that Chrome now accounts for 25.7 percent of the global market and 17.3 percent of the American market.

Internet Explorer has declined in popularity but remains by far the most widely used browser in the world, releasing a new version this spring.

StatCounter bases their clames on over 15 billion page views every month, charting over three million websites.
