How the internet is being used by each generation – infographic

Share

There continues to be a widely held belief that web use is dramatically different between generations, it’s a toy for the kiddos, and that the general population is still broadly unaware of the internet, barring email, but recent data shows otherwise.

Pew Research studies reveal that the percentage of people online in each age group closely matches the percentage of that age group within the general population which is simply fascinating as to how quickly that number has risen.

SiteJabber graphically depicts all Pew results with one of my favorite findings being in the rainbow chart at the bottom that reveals blogging as one of the tasks least performed by all age groups which tells us that those blogging in business still have a leg up on the millions of those who are not and bloggers.

Bloggers also have a great advantage as “getting news” is one of the top ten activities of all age groups- who’s to say that bloggers can’t be that news source? With 21% of America not using the web, with 31% citing disinterest as their main reason, who’s to say that your blog won’t be the push they need to spark that interest?
