Call it retro, call it vintage, call it hot
Vintage appliances, most notably from the 1950s are popping up in homes across America and adding the perfect dash of nostalgia to modern designs. Major cities have appliance restoration houses, so they are not difficult to find, and homeowners are not only seeking out restored pieces, but commissioning the restoration specialists to find an exact style.
Maybe you remember your grandmother’s turquoise ice box, or the yellow rounded fridge from the house you grew up in, and adding it to a standard kitchen can make a huge statement.
In searching for these pieces, some dealers call them retro appliances, others call them antique appliances and yet others use the term vintage appliances, but we just call them hot! They are restored to look new and are absolutely gorgeous.
Because they are somewhat cost prohibitive, they are popping up in higher end properties and luxury homes, but as the demand on vintage rises, the field could become more competitive.
