If you’re easily distracted, avert your eyes
It is not often that we come across something that we feel stingy about and like so much that we don’t want to share with anyone, but Jux.com made us feel possessive in just that way. It’s everything we’ve always wanted a blog to be and although it takes a second to get the hang of as a user, it is incredible for the viewer.
What makes Jux different besides its design clearly catering to designers and artists, is that everything is completely dynamic. When a blog post features a full screen picture, it becomes full screen no matter what size screen the viewer has, so it will size dynamically to an iPhone or to the 23″ screen this is currently being written on. Additionally, the experience is fully dynamic in that viewers can right or left arrow through to the next article and blog posts always take up the entire browser screen. We like that you can add your Twitter handle to your account and it shows up on everything you post, and you can hide your name or date on any specific article which helps content remain timeless.
When you refresh on the landing page, it doesn’t rearrange the order of the posts, but does rearrange the size and position so that each load of the homepage is unique. As pictured above, you can upload giant pictures, videos, slideshows, create top 10 (or any other number) lists, blockquotes and of course a blog article and each entry shows a view count on the bottom of the page. It is not against their terms of service to use it for business, but users cannot spam, aggregate, violate any laws or copyrights or phish (standard terms of service), so the uses for businesses looking for a creative alternative are endless!
In fairness, it is not set up to accept comments, so it won’t work for everyone, but a lot of business content is designed now to be interactive in some ways (anyone can embed a picture from Jux into their own blog or share on social networks), but there is liability for some industries in opening content to comments. The bottom line is that Jux is VERY different.
The impressiveness of Jux in photos
Jux is best explained in pictures, so we spent a few minutes putting together a single property website that is completely fake – “Realtor Lady” is the person who put it together and it is the voice of the homeowner telling the story of the home. It literally took less than 30 minutes to pull this site together from sign up to what you see now. We invite you to peruse the images below to get a feel for Jux and visit the live site at SingleProperty.Jux.com. If you set up a Jux site, leave a link in the comments for us to peruse.
