Pinterst introduces Place Pins

Pinterest has recently introduction Place Pins with the idea that every day, people Pin about 1.5 million places and there are now over 750 million Pins of destinations on Pinterest. Place Pins are the answer to turning traveling inspiration into reality, helping the brand continue to turn the corner as they go mainstream.

Place Pins include extra details, like addresses and phone numbers, so you can access the useful information on the weekend, or before you head out for a night on the town. To create your own place board, just select “add a map,” when you create a new board, or you can select “edit” on an existing board to “add a map.”

After that, you can map all of your new and existing Pins on the board to help you plan your next trips, be they business or professional. You can also create boards with friends, co-workers, and family members to share party, conference, and vacation details. When you send the board, they will be able to see all the information about must-see places.

Add in a dash of Foursquare

The new Place Pins use Foursquare’s location API and Mapbox’s mapping technology, but will also use Apple and Google maps with their mobile app; allowing you to use addresses in Place Pins to find your way. Place Pins are the latest addition to the category pins, Pinterest has launched.

What does this mean for your business? Place Pins are a new way to market your business. After the addition of “promoted pins,” Pinterest is being smart about creating categories so that business can more easily find their niche in which to advertise. Businesses should definitely keep an eye on Place Pins, because more and more people are becoming familiar with Pinterest, it is another avenue to push your brand towards customers looking for products to share with their friends, family, and co-workers.
