Twitter 101
A few weeks ago I shared with you my opinion of who real estate agents should follow on Twitter. This list, in my opinion, should be most densely populated with people who you could help buy or sell property. I shared with you some ideas on how to find people by their geographical location, today I wanted to share a quick tip on how to find and follow the people you already know.
We all have email accounts, most of us have several. Twitter gives a simple tool to connect with your email contacts and discover if they are already on Twitter.
It’s this easy:
I created this brief video to show you exactly how easy it is to import your email addresses and follow your clients, friends and family who are already on Twitter!
So to recap:
#1- log into www.twitter.com
#2- top right hand of screen, click on “find people”
#3- Click on 2nd tab: “Find Friends”
#4- Choose your email account & provide log in information
#5- Follow!
This is a basic and very easy way to see who you already know that is on Twitter and follow them. I repeat this every few months because people are coming to Twitter all the time!

Could be dangerous for real estate agents. All too often we are looked at as using social media as our next farm area.

Joe, not sure how it could be dangerous, would you share your thoughts on that? As to using social media as a farm area, that is EXACTLY the point. If people who you are already connected with are on Twitter and you are on Twitter, then you should be viewing them as your social media sphere and keep them engaged.

Guess I’m out of luck since I use a hotmail alias…. Or is there another way to load my contacts from Outlook?
