New version features
Alongside the announcement of the newest version of Skype, users can initiate a Facebook video call without having to open a browser and log in, as users can now connect their Facebook account to Skype, select a Facebook friend and hit the Skype video call button as demonstrated in the video above.
On the other side of the Skype call, the recipient can “answer” the call directly from within Facebook. While this deeper integration between Facebook and Skype isn’t revolutionary by any means, it is helpful because users can already see their Facebook Wall, update their status and make comments from inside of Skype, and now the ability to make a Facebook video call from Skype is an intuitive addition.
Skype said in a statement, “Besides this great new Facebook feature, additional new features added to Skype 5.4 Beta for Mac and Skype 5.7 Beta for Windows including video rendering giving a smoother video experience for Mac users and group screen sharing for Windows users with a Premium subscription (group screen sharing is currently available for Mac users). Users who are chatting one-on-one will also be able to screen share with live video streaming.”
Skype 5.4 Beta for Mac and Skype 5.7 Beta for Windows are now available for download.
