Facebook is hot, there is no doubt about it. We write about new features, marketing methods and statistics every week. It is a place where business is taking place and connections are being made, and it’s all for free, so yippee, right?
Wrong. You don’t own Facebook, you don’t own your profile or page, you don’t own your content or your personal information- Facebook does. If Facebook decides to charge you a monthly fee tomorrow and you can’t or won’t pay it, your pictures, information and updates are all frozen. If Facebook decides that it wants to sell data on your every move on every site, even when you’re not logged in to Facebook, they can. And guess what? They do!
This isn’t science fiction, your information and web behavior is being tracked and sold. While enjoying your Facebooking, at least be aware that you are the product being sold- we’re all little piggies!
