An opportunity to get back out there

So you woke up today and realized that you put everyone before yourself – your husband, your perfect 2.6 kids, your pets, outside family, etc. You put your career and life on hold to watch your children flourish and your spouse be successful, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that – but now you’re 40 and unemployed. You yearn for career redemption, but where do you start?

Thanks to our evolving digital world, there are opportunities to refresh your job skills and get back in the game – even for you moms who spent A LOT of time away.

The rejection of re-entry

The Enternship, a four-week class that targets women over 40, points ladies in the right direction in regards to new technology, experiential public relations and communications; all skills needed to be successful in the ever-booming, ever-changing global workforce.

The inspiration for this program is straightforward. CEO, Gwen Wunderlich, put it this way, “We were tired of watching friends and family members get passed over for their younger counterparts or denied jobs because they have ‘too much’ experience.”

Wunderlich explained that in the well over 600 applications they received from women interested in this opportunity, there was one common thread. Too many of these women felt defeated because they had experienced rejection in the workplace. Something had to give.

Breaking back into the workforce

Specifically, Enternship targets PR campaigning. Putting it plainly – how to operate and ramp up use of social media, how to write pitches and press releases, networking and blogging. Literally, a one-stop-shop guide on the program’s main goal, to get women back on their feet in a workplace that may look entirely different than it did when they left it.

The President of the company, Dara Kaplan, sums the program up in one, simple sentence, “It’s a program to help women over 40.”

Many of the women Enternship is targeting have been bought out by their companies, chosen to get out of the corporate world, or are in the middle of a career change and need help breaking back into the workforce. In their four weeks, they are efficiently and effectively taught the skills needed to be more competitive, thus, providing them both the knowledge and confidence they need to get back out there and take their industry by storm.
