As we’ve all been watching the federal government is on the verge of a shut down leaving what qualifies as essential personnel in the hands of The President of the United States.
Mr. President, we urge you to make known today your absolute intentions of what you will deem essential personnel in relations to all matters of housing– let’s not wait for a government shut down. With Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac accounting for over 90 percent of all American mortgages we believe it is imperative that these services be sustained during any period of the possible shut down.
It would be irresponsible of the National Association of Realtors, National Association of Home Builders, local real estate boards as well as all licensed real estate professionals not to stand shoulder to shoulder to voice this sentiment.
We hope you’ll tweet #housingisessential, blog it, say it, and that the National Association of Realtors will lead on this important and critical issue. This would include any office (such as HUD, FHFA, FHA and even the VA) that supports housing, mortgages, to include but not limited to essential departments of the IRS that handle all real estate transactions, documentation, and web properties.
Housing is not political.
Home ownership more than matters, housing is essential.
