I’ve spent a great deal of time simply observing real estate blogs around the blogosphere and a few things have really startled me.
Obviously, many in our industry are catching on little by little and opening their hearts and minds up to the masses through their blogs- and they are using a method of trial and error to master it while throwing out all common sense in the process. Small businesses such as the independent Realtor have never had such a powerful global marketing tool as they have today. The internet can be your friend, or it can destroy your credibility all together. I’m not singling anyone out in this blog, simply providing more food for thought.
If you are blogging Nationally, it is well advised that you remember that NATIONAL EXPOSURE means exactly that, good or bad- it cannot be taken back once your finger hits post.
Here are a few sins I’ve witnessed:
- Sexual Content on local/national mixed blogs
- Temper
- Arrogance
- Personal Attacks
- Unprovoked Aggression (especially sexual in nature)
- Sexist material/photos/videos
Sensitivity is imperative when imagining your reader as a minority or female. Are you marketing yourself? Or are you hiding behind the veil of being a self-proclaimed Opinion Editor who would simply state – that’s just the collateral damage of my free speech….
Just some random thoughts…
