The absolute worst way to go viral is to be ordinary. Fortunately, over the past week I’ve been part of some very un-ordinary conversations about viral marketing which has provided more than a few gems to share on going viral…

  • A good article can quickly become buzzworthy when you add compelling charts, graphics, and images.
  • Teach someone how to do something. There’s more than a few people that need to learn how to…
  • Find a new angle to a story.
  • If you’ve already written great content, repackage it into a more portable format (top blog posts can become the next viral PDF).
  • Add video. Buzzworthy content isn’t just written, it’s shown.
  • Simplify that which is complex.
  • Discuss and current and future trends and definitely give your opinion.
  • Bring out strong emotions. In yourself and others.
  • Provide a behind-the-scenes look at something.
  • Summarize the most important points of more lengthy or complex information.
