Lifetramp: Explore career possibilities without commitment

Lifetramp is a brand new site that sets out to help people to discover potential career paths. Currently in Europe, the company plans to go international.

Explore career possibilities without commitment

Whether you are looking for a new hobby, new experience, or a career change, you may be interested in Lifetramp. Lifetramp is a website that pairs mentors with people who are looking for a glimpse into a different lifestyle, before making the plunge.

The Polish-based site allows users to search profiles in their field of interest and read a bit about each user. The users are grouped into three categories: art, tech, and crafts. The art category includes talents like photography, musicians, artists, translators, and tattoo artists. Tech users include game developers, digital media, and IT security, to name a few.

Crafts include skills like doll making, designing, furniture building, and comic book publishing. After browsing the users, if you find someone interesting, you can arrange to meet up and shadow the user for a day. In return for this service, all the user asks is that you buy them lunch or dinner.

Currently in Europe with broader ambitions

Although most of the users are currently in Europe, the founders of Lifetramp hope it will take off globally. The founders wanted to create a service that would allow people to spend time together engaging and communicating, rather than interacting solely online. In future, they will likely move towards a payment system where you would make a small donation to the mentors/users in exchange for the shadowing experience.

While Lifetramp is being marketed as a way to explore other careers and forge new experiences, it could also be used as a networking tool. You can search for people who are in your own field, or in a field you require their service. For example, if you are a writer, you might need the services of a graphic designer; you could use Lifetramp to find someone to help you with your next project. It will be interesting to see if the platform can expand globally because this type of service could be quite useful for freelancers and artists alike.
