Realtors are small businesses
Realtors are the quintessential small business, operating as contract employees even when working in a team or under a broker. As such, we at AGBeat have studied small business trends for years, as they pertain to real estate and today we are focusing on wireless technologies.
Adoption rates of smartphones and tablets are rapidly rising and consumers as well as businesses of all size are relying on wireless tech. 96% of small businesses surveyed stated that they could not survive in their business with wireless technologies and that use of mobile apps is in the top four reasons they have gone wireless. Surprisingly, nearly one in three small business owners surveyed owns a tablet and 62% report using their tablet multiple times throughout the day.
Rising mobile adoption rates
Businesses are adopting wireless tech most heavily in Miami, Atlanta, San Diego and Dallas with San Francisco surprising ranking fifth for adoption rates. This is interesting to us as two of the top five are in California, but the remaining three are in the South which is often seen by other parts of the country as less sophisticated regarding technology.
Intuit reports that 75% of small business owners use and rely upon mobile apps and while the environment surrounding mobile technologies is changing as Android and iPhone are dominating more and more marketshare, the consensus is that apps are now powering the small business and therefore the real estate environment and continues to be a hot topic.
