National Homeownership Month
As the nation kicks off National Homeownership Month, some wonder what the Realtor population practices rather than preaches and who owns homes out of the people promoting homeownership.
According to the National Association of Realtors (NAR), 91% of Realtors are homeowners, a very healthy number compared to the national average of 67%. For members aged 39 and younger, homeownership is at 78% and Realtors over 60 have a 94% homeownership rate.
All income brackets within the Realtor profession average high rates of ownership with the lowest rate being 87% in the under $10,000 category.
Investing in additional properties
Despite slumping Realtor paychecks, 16% of Realtors own one or more vacation homes and 44% own other residential properties for investment and one in ten Realtors own at least one commercial property.
It is evident that the National Association of Realtors pushes the values of homeownership, but we can now faithfully say that NAR members literally walk the walk not only with investing in their own homes, but nearly half investing in additional properties.

Quite interesting stats! Realtors doing the plunge and walking-the-talk. Home buyers ought to know about this, to give them a push to dive in the housing market as well.
