Patent reform passed Senate, now what?
Patent reform has long been called for and it looked like an overhaul was on the way as Congress was expected to deliver a bill backed by the current administration that already passed in the senate this month (on a 95-5 vote) but opposition is speaking up.
The current American patent system is “first to invent” and the bill would bring it into modernity to “first to file” at the US Patent Office.
Supporting patent reform
We recently wrote about the trend in real estate technology of emerging patent lawsuits and addressed the potential for stifling of innovation and believe that patent reform is necessary.
Despite opposition standing up at the eleventh hour, we hope that Congress will pass the patent overhaul which should bring us up to par and done more effectively like many other developed nations.

Interesting. In theory I think “first to invent” is where my sympathies lie – but in terms of enforcement “first to file” makes SO much more sense.
