Will NAR’s new partnership make market data more visibly appealing?

Deciphering market data

The National Association of Realtors (NAR) produces a number of market reports for members and consumers on various economic topics pertaining to the residential real estate market.

10Kresearch.com (10k Research and Marketing) has been selected by NAR’s Research Division as a preferred vendor to begin working on the Economic and Market Watch reports.

Streamlining NAR products

As NAR streamlines their research offerings to save time and money, rather than halt production of the Economic and Market Watch report, “they chose 10K to smooth the transition into a refreshed quarterly report,” according to 10K.

“10K has already been producing exceptional market analytics reports using local MLS data,” said Thomas J. Doyle, Marketing and Communications Manager for NAR’s Research Division. “We have referenced the 10K reports quite a bit in our daily Research operations, as they provide insightful, timely and easy-to-read information.”

But will NAR utilize “the thing” tool?

We reported in June that Midwest Data Real Estate LLC (MRED) had brought 10k on board to provide their members with 10k’s new analytic tool, “the thing” which is a data visualization tool that makes real estate data extremely simple to review in an aesthetically pleasing format. The fonts are large, the reports make great use of white space and the graphic design although simple, blows away almost any large scale data report. (sample report)

Will NAR’s new partnership ultimately take advantage of “the thing” tool and make housing data more visually appealing and easier to understand? The day of the infographic is on the rise and the day of Excel spreadsheets is on the way out.

There is no word yet as to whether or not NAR will make use of the data visualization tool by 10k, but with this new relationship, NAR will be saving time and money and continuing to provide the Economic and Market Watch report to its members rather than cut it altogether.

I couldn't agree more! For one who easily get's bored by looking at the numbers, statistics and other numerical information may not be appealing (unless of course if there is a dollar sign attached to it. ^^) A numeric presentation would be great with visuals and graphics. I think it's high time indeed to do away with our old ways in presenting data to the public. We have to consider the fact that not all people can understand what statistics means. This way they can easily understand the data and, most probably, engage in the business of real estate.
