SayQuick is a must for website owners
There’s something decidedly cold about typed responses. Intonation and voice are so important to our perception of one’s reaction that, often, we mistake the meaning, tone, or emotion behind a few black words on a white screen. It’s the reason phone calls will always trump texting; we are simply too attuned to our fellow beings’ voices’ fluctuations to be able to properly extrapolate enough information from type.
Voice recording—a much warmer, more personal medium of feedback—has fallen out of favor with the all but demise of voicemail. However, SayQuick — an app based out of California City, CA—encourages you to “Listen to the voice of your audience…literally.” SayQuick allows you to add a microphone-compatible app on your site, facilitating two-way auditory feedback (that’s right—not only does it allow you to receive oral comments, it allows you to deliver them, as well). As it both removes the question “what did they mean by that?” from the comment equation AND adds personality, SayQuick is certainly a step forward in the evolution of formal feedback.
In beta now, SayQuick officially launches this fall
As always, abuse of the lenience of such a system is a serious drawback of this app. Reading a positive comment will often brighten your day; hearing one can absolutely make it. However, by the same token, there is a serious differential between reading negative or abusive feedback and hearing it. It would also be irresponsible not to point out that, in most cases, we can read far quicker than we can listen. Though this app will undoubtedly help companies provide better-tailored customer service and productivity, the end result may come at the price of higher time-consumption.
SayQuick is currently running a beta on their site, with a tentative launch date of Fall 2015.
