Flapcast puts podcasts in the cloud

Podcasts join music in the cloud

Podcasts have become an easy way for people to share ideas and stories, especially with listeners on the go and multi-taskers. Just as music is hosted in the cloud and can be listened to from any device, podcasts have no joined in the fun without requiring endless downloads.

Enter Flapcast which helps users to organize cloud-hosted podcasts and listen from any browser. The app is social, allowing users to friend each other and discover new podcasts that way, and while it is a new community and not nearly as large as Facebook, users can connect over interests rather than knowing each other in advance.

Well known podcasts from NPR, Freakonomics and the like are already there and we anticipate that the library will continue growing. The greatest part of the app is that it doesn’t require iTunes which can be a large annoyance for non-Apple users, and you can simply get started with listening and learning rather than downloading and twiddling your thumbs.

Additionally, you can add podcasts to the site and it is free, however it does require Flash to work which will limit some users, but not as many as restricting a podcast to iTunes can.
