Extreme smartphone concept
The WaView caught our attention immediately because we could not exactly pin down what it was at first glance. The smartphone looks like a flexible tablet and lamp, but could that be the case? According to YankoDesign, this smartphone “serenades as a lampshade (charging cradle) when not in use. The design explores the usage of flexible LED screen to the hilt. Moreover the screen is a tad bit exaggerated to mimic a curvy tablet.”
We are seeing a variety of smartphone concepts hit the market, many of which are flexible and rely on nanotechnologies, a promising future for the devices. We are also seeing concepts that are multi-functional and more complex rather than the Apple concept of streamlining and simplifying everything – could this be the wave of the next generation of smartphones?
It is hard to imagine picking up a base that becomes a wide touchscreen and ultimately a lamp – is it too Minority Report, or would you check your email on your flexible lamp?

Not a chance!! First, too big. Second, too big. Third, plastic screen. You gotta love these fanciful vapor gadgets. I'll stick with my iPhone. Did I mention it's also impractical.
