Isn’t “dual agency” an oxymoron? How can one represent the best interests of two parties on opposite ends of a contract. If an agent is acting on behalf of their client they cannot serve the best interest of other party to the contract as well. One can argue that it is in the best interest of both sides for the transaction to be completed and that dual agency seeks to attain this end. However, this does not appear to fall under the description of “agency” but instead “mediation”. Dual agency is really mediation and not agency at all!
