Originally launching exclusively for iPhone users, Color is also available for Android devices, bringing live broadcasting to a broader pool of smartphones. We reported on the original release of Color and pointed out five ways the app could be used in marketing for business – Color gives you 30 seconds to tell your story and there is no audio, editing or uploading, just a simple quick live broadcast from your phone to Facebook.
The reviews so far are fairly positive, with those adoring the app far outnumbering those who hate it (with the most frequent reason for giving a bad review is that it doesn’t offer audio, which is unfair given the premise that it is an edit-less, audio-free process). Color captures are almost like a higher quality animated gif of a life event that renders in video format. The goal is to make sharing simple.
One of the most appealing options of Color is that users can “host a visit” which is much like hosting a visit with a friend in real life. Simply put, Color adds a social layer to Facebook Photos with controls over who is sent notifications of new updates and other privacy settings.
Video demonstrations of Color
First is a commercial-style video, demonstrating the app (beware: there is a lot of hipster action, and we assure you that you are not required to eat sushi in a VW hippie van, wearing feather accessories to use the app). Second and third are short tutorials on using the app to simplify your Color experience.
