McDonald’s vs. Apple vs. Android
We reported last month that Apple hit the 15 billion app download milestone with 200 million users after only three years of the App Store’s existence.
ZDNet.com’s Eric Lai compared the data to discover whether or not the App Store meets or beats the “Gold Standard for Incredible Growth, McDonald’s hamburgers?”
McDonald’s signs used to mention the “billions and billions served” until it surpassed 100 billion burgers served, way back in 1994.
With Apple hitting 15 billion apps in three years and McDonald’s (the “Gold Standard”) hit 100 billion in 46 years, Apple’s pace is nine times faster than McDonald’s sales pace.
Lai points out that Google’s Android Market now has 4.5 billion downloads in under three years, but based on projections of its currently accelerating growth, Google could beat Apple to the 100 billion download milestone.

This might be true that Apple (and soon Android) has caught McDonald's # in a short period of time but when you consider that people had to leave their homes to get a hamburger, it's a pretty impressive stat. Perhaps it was the explosive growth of McDonald's and other fast food establishments which led us to sitting on our butts and downloading apps in the first place? Can anyone say "vicious cycle"?

That's funny Sean.
And now we have apples in happy meals…
