Font Flame: Tinder for fonts (and they’ll never ghost you)

Tinder for fonts. You heard that right. Jan Wennesland, creator of Font Flame says that her site “ambitiously tries to solve a problem most typography lovers have, namely font pairing.”

The start of something special

Anyone familiar with a computer has witnessed the painful headache bad font pairings inspire. Personally, if I happened to stumble upon the complete and comprehensive guide to riches but it had a bad font, I would refuse to read as I’m not willing to succumb to the pain. So you can imagine how valuable the correct font is for designers and people alike, whose livelihood depends on the readability of their material.

Up until now, designers could do a Google search to access blogs and other sites that had average font pairing suggestions; but as we all know, searching for things on Google can be a fruitless endeavor, which is why Jan Wennesland created Font Flame.  This cool new site “ambitiously tries to solve a problem most typography lovers have, namely font pairing.”

Swipe left/Swipe right

Font Flame is a new and more convenient way to pair fonts, mimicking the popular dating match site Tinder. With a similarly easy to use interface, Font Flame uses Google Font Library to provide all of the different options, and randomly pairs fonts that you normally wouldn’t envision together. Much like the dating app, the user is shown each particular pairing and given the simple choice between “love” or “hate”, allowing a swift response. Anything you hate is ditched and forgotten, while the ones you love are saved for later access.

Curated collections

In the beginning stages of development, all of the parings were random, and users were at risk of getting addicted and swiping until the end of time. However, they have recently introduced a curated collection, along with a Trending collection of fonts, so if you need something quick, there’s an option for you.

Gone are they days of clashing fonts, and conflicting design thanks to Font Flame. Although its still a prototype, Font Flame is continuously adding new features, and plans on implementing other font sources as they develop further. If beautiful, and seamless font’s are important to you, head over to their site and see how FontFlame can put the extra “umph” in your designs.
