For some reason, I have not wanted to even consider monetizing the blog (other than lead generation). I am not sure why. Philosophical reasons I guess. I would be curious to see how others are doing it in an unobtrusive way. Thanks for the tip. I will have to check out the anatomy ads.

Wow, the anatomy ads service looks pretty slick, I’ll have to check it out! I can see how selecting a lender, inspector and maintenance service would be really cohesive on my own blog… thanks for sharing, Vicki, I’m pretty confident that Anatomy Ads will win!!!

For me, I think it somewhat depends on who your audience is to which you are blogging in the first place. If you are talking to peers (or some other non-client audience), monetizing the site may be a smart way of making some bucks on the side. However, I choose not to monetize a blog focused on my clients as an audience simply because I’ve worked so hard to get them there in the first place – giving them an “easy out” to leave me and go somewhere else by dangling the next shiny new toy on my site isn’t something I’m willing to do.

Good points Jennifer – I many links on my site, including a blog roll, that may pull people away. My site has to have a lot of interest to get the visitor to stay.
