White Castle offers spicy content on OnlyFans, should your business join?

(MARKETING) White Castle is offering a subscription-only spicy recipe on the OnlyFans platform. We explain why taking this risk is a genius marketing move

White Castle on OnlyFans

As a business, social media can be the bane of your existence or it can be highly lucrative, depending on how your business uses it. White Castle seemingly stepped up their social media game when they joined OnlyFans, a platform that is known for adult material. Their spicy recipe for Southwest Jalapeno Cheese Slider Stuffing is only available on OnlyFans. It’s a great marketing ploy, not only for White Castle, but also for OnlyFans.

What is OnlyFans?

OnlyFans is known for its explicit content, but there’s a lot more about the platform than just adult stories. Users must be at least 18 to join the platform. A government-issued ID is required to sign up. Creators can provide premium and exclusive content for OnlyFans that can’t be shared anywhere else and the platform protects the content by blacking out content when a user tries to take a screenshot. Although creators can provide free content, most provide content through a subscription-based service. OnlyFans takes 20%, while creators earn 80%. It’s estimated that there are over 170 million registered users on OnlyFans. While some creators earn quite a lot, the average earnings are about $180/month.

Why join OnlyFans?

We can only speculate about White Castle’s motives in joining OnlyFans, but it makes sense that they would want to tap into the market. InfluencerMade estimates the average user age on OnlyFans is 29. With Facebook’s popularity waning, people are looking for alternatives to stay connected to brands and businesses. OnlyFans is just one platform that is seeing an influx of users who are looking for entertainment in the wake of the pandemic.

Is Onlyfans right for your business?

Unfortunately, we can’t answer that for your business. OnlyFans is not family-friendly, but that doesn’t diminish its popularity. It’s certainly worth looking at if your target customers line up with OnlyFans demographics, which White Castle must have decided that the potential to gain followers outweighed any negative backlash.
