As a business professional, you may be looking for ways to cut back on your budget while still maintaining productivity and effectiveness. It doesn’t matter in which industry you work; there are simple ways to accomplish your goals while staying within your budget. Here are seven iPhone and iPad apps that once cost from $0.99 to nearly $43 but are now free:
Used to be $1.99
Dunnit – This free app is a basic to-do list that includes Twitter integration, multiple task entry, list creation from pasteboard, and a stunning and unique design and interface. You can create repeating tasks on your to-do list every day, week, or even month. It’s advertised as simple to use and you can customize your reminder notifications.
Used to be $1.99
DisplayLink – While this one is also free, it’s only free for a limited time. DisplayLink is specifically designed for using your iPad as a second display for your desktop. It can be used wirelessly and is compatible with Windows 7, Vista, and XP.
Used to be $42.99
Q-Pulse Docs – Q-Pulse Docs provides a secure environment to save and access your documents right from your iPad, while you’re in your office, traveling between clients, or needing to access an important document over the weekend.
Used to be $0.99
SmartTimer – This free app is to help you monitor and keep your conferences and meetings on-track. The SmartTimer will notify you when it’s time to wrap it up, by following the 80-20 rule, where the last twenty percent is dedicated to ending the conference or meeting.
Used to be $0.99
ToDoMatrix – The free version of this downloadable iPhone app is all about keeping you organized. This app allows you up to six folders and thirty tasks. However, if you need more room than that, you’ll have to upgrade to the paid version.
Used to be $4.99
MobizTrack – If you work on an outcall basis, this might be the right app for you. You can keep track of clients, balances due, appointments, and other customer-related information. This free app allows you to keep up to five clients.
Used to be $4.99
iCan-Print – iCan-Print is an app that allows you to send documents or pictures to your printer wirelessly. This app is convenient and increases your productivity in the office and even while you’re out of the office.
Some say that “it takes money to make money.” While this is true in some cases, it isn’t always. Taking advantage of free iPhone and iPad apps is just a smart business decision. Cutting back where you can will provide you with a bigger budget to spend elsewhere; you just have to know how to use your resources to your best advantage.

None of these apps really caught my eye… Maybe why they went from costing to free. But thank you for setting them out for us.
